Happy Christmas and Merry New Year

Nicolas had a big Christmas this year.

We celebrated with Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Thomas, Mommy and Daddy.
It was a full house.

Nicolas loved all his new toys. And couldn't wait to play with them all.

We jammed on the guitar, tickled Elmo, and drove all the new trucks.

Nicolas would like to wish all our family and friends a wonderful new year filled with health and happiness.
Happy New Year!

Since we last spoke...

...the leaves have changed and have fallen off the trees. We've had a few minor snow storms and the temperature keeps dropping. Uncle Thomas had come to visit us, twice. Grandpa made a brief appearance, in between meetings. And Grandma has come from Istanbul to spend time with us leading up to holidays.

We've been on long walks.Nicolas keeps exceeding weight and height standards for his age.

Nicolas has been sick... more than once.

We've had a number of "tickle sessions".

And Nicolas is still the happiest kid in the world.

Happy Birthday Nicolas!

Nicolas turned 3 last Saturday!
Our weekend was full of celebrating.

We had dinner and cupcakes with friends.

And we had meal at Nicolas' favorite restaurant. Followed by a surprise cake and birthday song!

To think that 3 years have gone by since this video is mind-boggling!

Happy Birthday Nicolas!

First Week of School

After finishing his summer reading, Nicolas was ready first his FIRST day of school.
Nicolas wasn't really interested in posing for his big day.
His bag was packed with all the emergency essentials.

Outside of the classroom there is a daily picture schedule to let all the little ones know what lies ahead. Nicolas took note.

But nothing could have prepared us for the tricky first few days. We are slowly getting the hang of it.

Ice Ice Baby

A word (or two) about the ice. We use ice as a form of oral motor therapy. It helps to contract the muscles and strengthen them. This helps with talking, drooling, and eating. By tapping and rubbing the ice on the cheeks, lips and tongue the muscles start to become stronger. Instead of wincing at the ice cold temperature, Nicolas does the opposite...

Summer 2008 (so far!)

We made it! And Nicolas was a champion!

He got his own first-class seat, thanks to his amazing grandparents!
Nicolas had a great time playing with the entire family.

And Nicolas made a new friend!

Doesn't Pepper look interested?

My new favorite things!

About a month ago, Nicolas started sitting up in his crib (it's been a long time coming!). Mommy was so surprised and so thrilled that we took some pictures...

Nicolas looked proud of himself too!

+++++++

Nicolas has also found his tounge. And so most days he has it sticking out.

He likes his new found tounge!

Build Me a Bridge

I have known that you and I

have never been quite the same.

And I used to look up at the stars at night

and wonder which one was from where I came.

Because you seem to be part of another world

and I will never know what it's made of.

Unless you build me a bridge, build me a bridge,

build me a bridge out of love.

I long for the day that you smile at me

just because you realize

that there's a decent and intelligent person

buried deep in my kaleidoscope eyes.

For I have see the way people look at me

Though I have done nothing wrong.

Build me a bridge, build me a bridge,

And please don't take too long.

Living on the edge of fear.

Voices echo like thunder in my ear.

See me hiding every day.

I'm just waiting for the fear to lift away.

I want so much to be part of your world.

I want so much to break through.

And all I need is to have a bridge,

a bridge built from me to you.

And I will be together with you forever,

and nothing can keep us apart.

If you build me a bridge, a tiny, little bridge

from my soul, down deep into you heart.

My First School Photo

Nicolas had his first class portrait taken. He attends a weekly afternoon class to prepare him for preschool in September. As you can see, they are only proofs but they turned out so well that we couldn't wait to share them!

Grandma and Grandpa visit!

Nicolas has been spoiled lately. Both Grandma and Grandpa came to visit us!

Grandpa surprised us with champagne and chocolate cake for Grandma's birthday.
Nicolas was happy to exchange champagne for apple juice.
After all that sugar, Nicolas had energy to burn and he used it to attack Daddy!

Nicolas also celebrated Easter while Grandma and Grandpa were visiting. That just meant more chocolate. Yum!

Little Artist

We think Nicolas might just be the next Picasso.
